| Abstract: |
Web mashups, i.e., web applications that are developed starting from contents and services available online, have been fascinating to a rapidly growing number of developers over the last two years. Still, comprehensive development tools or frameworks are lacking, and in most cases mashing up a new application implies a significant manual programming effort. In this paper, we provide an overview of current tools, frameworks, and trends that aim at facilitating mashup de-velopment. We identify a set of characteristic dimensions, which we then use to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of a few representative approaches, thereby providing some insights into the nature of mashups. |
